Among the variety of our dishes we also boast our grandparents traditional recipes. Our open-kitchen lets you see how the tastes that captivate both your palette and spirit are prepared in real-time. Our upbeat and informal atmosphere features the best of seafood and land dishes in both the ‘Romagnolo’ traditional style as well as contemporary fare.
Everything is freshly prepared each day and we are well-known for the best mixed fried seafood in Ravenna. We also have vegan and vegetarian options!
We are open everyday serving home made cakes from 6 am in the morning until the last round of drinks at 11!

We love our Piadina!
Prepared using organic flour from Molino Pransani mill from the hills of Bivio Montegelli. We also make a lard-free version with 100% organic wholemeal spelled flour.
We use high quality certified Romagna deli and cheese. Our prosciutto crudo is from Parma and aged for at least 24 months.
Fish lover? Savour gourmet blue fish, octopus, and marinated salmon with us. You can find it on our menu!

Cucina Retro is 200 mq family-style sized restaurant with a monitor-supervised play area for kids.
Children can play in a colorful indoor playroom with playground, ball pit, slide, soft rugs and ride-on animals; or experience a thousand adventures in the garden on the pirate galleon ship. In winter, there is also a third extra play area on the veranda of Cucina Retrò: soft and safe, with a ball pool, a Smurf house and lots of cubes and gummy animals. In summer, we offer the Baby Park service: with live entertainment for children in the playroom (12:00-16:00 and 18:00-22:00). The monitors can be checked from the tavern tables so Mum and dad can relax.

It all started in 1956…
… when Marina Romea didn’t even exist yet.
The tavern, Cucina Retro café and Marina Romea were all born together in the 50’s with the name “Ristorante La Pioppa” – Thanks to Baker Ugo Gardini; Rita e Giacomo Gardini continued the business into the 70s-00s. Today Ugo’s grandchildren run the family biz.
At Cucina Retro we want to go back in time to when taverns where places to meet, to catch up on town stories, be in good company and laugh among friends. Come by any day, any time to have a coffee or a glass of good red wine while your kids play in the play rooms. Come to know the local stories and relax among friends.
